GENERAL STATEMENT OF DUTIES: Performs difficult skilled work in maintaining signs, traffic markings, and a variety of construction. Operates equipment in connection with tasks. Work is performed under minimal supervision.
DISTINGUISHING FEATURES OF THE CLASS: Performing a variety of tasks in the construction, maintenance, and repair of signs, traffic markings, and a variety of construction tasks.

- Locate, design, assemble, install and repair various signs such as traffic signs, wayfinding signs, traffic legends, banners, pavements markings, and traffic dividers.
- Paint intersection markings, crosswalks, other traffic markings or control devices either manually or by machine; apply paints, reflective materials and coatings to various situations, remove old striping, legends and markers either manually or by machine.
- Sets up emergency and non-emergency traffic control and detours for various events.
- Performs a variety of semi-skilled tasks in areas such as equipment operation, traffic control maintenance and tree trimming.
- Performs Snow and Ice pretreatment and removal.
- Operates a computer and applicable software applications (examples: Flexisign, Cityworks, Microsoft Word and Excel).
- Performs routine maintenance on equipment and cleaning of sign shop assignments.
- Responds to on-call service needs as scheduled after hours.
- Measures retro reflectivity with retro reflectometer.
- Sets up Stealth Stat, traffic monitoring device.
- Build and maintain positive working relationships with co-workers, other municipalities, contractors and public using good customer service.
- Performs related duties as assigned.
- Follows policy, MUTCD and 811 guidelines.
