JOB SUMMARY
The Revenue Data Specialist performs responsible technical and administrative work supporting customer service, utility billing, revenue collection, and related software systems. Reporting to the Director of Customer Service, the Revenue Collection Data Specialist works under general supervision to monitor progress and achievement of key performance indicators. Furthermore, this role requires a balance of technical troubleshooting and direct customer interaction. This position ensures that both software and the financial process for collecting revenue run efficiently, combining technical expertise with strong collections management skills.

- Analyzes billing, revenue, and usage data to identify trends and variances.
- Assists with system upgrades, user training, and documentation of software processes
- Monitors system performance and resolves technical issues impacting revenue collections
- Creates and prepares reports needed for billing software for other departments.
- Manage and maintain data improvement initiatives and system integrations.
- Ensures data accuracy for billing, compliance and reporting purposes.
- Assists with creating best practices and operating policies related to water and sewer billing and collections.
- Assists with the implementation of special projects as needed.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Typical Qualifications

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES
- Ability to spot inconsistencies in revenue reports, dashboards or CRM data.
- Knowledge of utility billing software systems.
- Understanding of revenue operations including enterprise sales, monthly billing, forecasting and KPIs.
- Understanding of data hygiene, validation, and maintaining accurate records.
- Basic SQL knowledge such as ability to query data from databases.
- Proficient in Excel or Google sheets.
- Ability to troubleshoot data discrepancies or operational issues.
- Ability to communicate effectively in person and on the telephone.
- Ability to work well with others.
- Ability to keep processes clean and replicable.
REQUIRED EXPERIENCE AND TRAINING
Bachelor’s degree in Information Management, Information Technology or related field. Three years of experience with software systems, billing services, data collection/support, and software integration in a professional setting. An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
