JOB SUMMARY
The Concession Worker performs responsible concession and customer service duties as well as semiskilled work in the Parks and Recreation Department. Reporting to the Concession Manager, the Concession Workers works under general supervision sufficient to monitor achievement of key performance indicators.

  • Operates cash register; counts start-up cash and ensures enough change is available.
  • Operates concession stand, maintains drinks and other concessions; restocks as necessary.
  • Greets and assists patrons, collects fees, provides recreational equipment; assists with programming activities.
  • Answers telephone.
  • Rents equipment, collects, inventories and stores equipment.
  • Maintains ridership or participation records.
  • Records each patron on sign-up sheet, totals and verifies fees collected.
  • Inventories supplies and equipment.
  • Enforces rules and regulations.
  • Performs light to moderate custodial and beautification work; ensures overall concession area is clean and well-maintained.
  • Performs related tasks as required.

Typical Qualifications

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES

  • General knowledge of the operation of a concession stand or recreation facility.
  • Ability to understand and follow oral and written directions.
  • Ability to perform record keeping and mathematical calculations.
  • Ability to get along well with others.
  • Ability to work unusual hours during the summer months.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE AND TRAINING
Must be at least sixteen (16) years of age.

PREFERRED EXPERIENCE AND TRAIINING
Prefer food service and/or recreational or athletics work experience. Experience working with the public highly desired.

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of the job. Work requires moving about the job site to retrieve items and fulfill customer requests; repetitive motions vocal communication is required for expressing or exchanging information by means of the spoken word; hearing is required to perceive information at normal spoken word levels; visual acuity is required for operation of machines and equipment, retrieving items, and observing general surroundings and activities; the worker is subject to inside and outside environmental conditions.
