Program Overview

Internship positions are available for a broad range of challenging assignments. Our Summer Internship Program provides an opportunity to learn more about the complex supermarket industry. Internship participants will have the ability to develop the leadership skills and business knowledge they will need to begin their career. This internship experience is an opportunity to work on projects that are meaningful and hands-on. Throughout the summer, interns will work in a team environment designed to promote and reward individuality, innovation, leadership, and strong business results.

Program Details

  • 12-Week paid summer internship
  • Community service opportunities supporting Food Lion Feeds
  • Career development and professional enhancement via learning activities
  • Lunch & Learn sessions with business leaders
  • End of program presentation to business leaders
  • Housing provided
  • Transportation provided, if needed

Program Qualifications

  • Minimum GPA of 3.0 is required ***All applicants are expected to provide a copy of their transcript with their resume showing they meet this requirement****
  • Permanent employment authorization/ US citizenship
  • Enrolled in a Bachelor's or master's program when applying

Key Responsibilities/Project Details

Projects may fall under any of the following areas: Communications, such as writing articles, interviewing associates for articles, modernizing communication methods, developing new communication tools, supporting The Mane Line associate newsletter or other communications projects.

Internship Key Dates:

  • Postings Early Fall
  • Interview and Selection - November- December
  • Internship dates: May 25, 2026, through August 7, 2026

Skills and Abilities

  • Self-management and initiative
  • Results-driven with strong problem-solving and decision-making skills
  • Project management and organizational abilities
  • Writing, storytelling, and interviewing/sourcing stories
  • Creativity and effective communication skills
  • Familiarity with or experience in social media is a plus
  • Adequate visual ability to review written materials accurately
  • Comfortable using computers and technical systems required for the role
  • Familiarity with AP Style is a plus
