Position Summary

Oversees the vision, strategy, plan and execution of marketing programs that create deep and lasting connections with Food Lion customers within our operating divisions and within our communities. To achieve this, this role leads a diverse team of managers and specialists focusing on growing Food Lion's philanthropic platform, Food Lion Feeds, a critical and competitively distinct Food Lion brand attribute that provides access to food within communities we serve. In this capacity, this role leads relationships with critical "feeding agency" partners and acts as the primary spokesperson for Food Lion Feeds. In addition, this position is responsible for development and flawless execution of localized, community programs that connect with customers, including programs targeting public servants, support Grand Openings and remodels, strengthen competitive position, execute targeted market growth plans (resort, Charlotte, etc). These local programs are another critical differentiator vs. competitive retailers, enabling Food Lion to maintain and grow market share leadership

Principal Duties And Responsibilities

  • Oversee the development of the strategic vision for Food Lion's hunger relief program, Food Lion Feeds and comprehensive activation plan with detailed financial and performance program measurement.
  • Provide strategic leadership in the management and development of local activation plans that are customized for our communities and deliver on set KPI's.
  • Develop a relationship with our key partners that are essential to helping serve those who are food insecure.
  • Provide strategic updates and progress regularly to internal and external stakeholders.
  • Engage with the Food Lion Leadership Team to gain their support and participation in key activities.
  • Member of the Food Lion Feeds Charitable Foundation and provides strategic oversight in their programs.
  • Coaching and development of high-performing talent

Basic Qualifications

  • Strong collaboration and integration with key stakeholders, including CR partners, civic leaders, community influencers and others.
  • Strong understanding of brand strategy, positioning and strategic deployment of the marketing mix
  • Demonstrated consistent ability with time management and attention to detail.
  • Seasoned level of knowledge for company, business and industry practices.
  • Ability to manage an internal team and create strong personal growth plans

Preferred Qualifications

  • Proven track record in the development of Community Relations campaign that aligns with the set Brand strategy.
  • Passionate advocate of Food Lion's mission to eliminate customer dilemmas choosing between rent and food
  • Proven ability to design and deploy effective marketing mix proven to drive regional growth, competitive share gains, and builds brand attribution
  • Self-disciplined, driven, able to demonstrate initiative, maintain confidentiality, and build trusted relationships
  • Ability to work well within a cross functional team environment
  • Strong attention to detail

EDUCATION

  • Master's Degree (preferred)
  • Bachelor's Degree

Experience

  • 10 years experience developing and executing localized marketing programs and/or philanthropic campaigns
  • 5 years experience leading others (direct or indirect)
  • Experience within retail environment or adjacent industry
  • Experience volunteering within or otherwise managing philanthropic organizations or initiatives

  • Ability to build and lead teams through the development of strong working relationships and alliances within the company.
  • Ability to lead teams to ensure strategic initiatives are met and KPI's are delivered.
  • Ability to lead the development of direct reports through coaching and developmental feedback; ensures development plans are in place.
  • Ability to present and lead conversations throughout all levels of the organization.
  • Influence without authority

COMPETENCIES

  • Deep knowledge of consumer relations including demonstrated ability to create a positive impact through these programs for the Brand.

  • Moderate: 30%
