Primary Purpose
The Director of Asset Protection & Risk Management is responsible for protecting company assets, brand reputation, and business continuity across the region. This role leads the development and execution of strategies that reduce shrink, mitigate risk, and ensure safe, secure, and resilient operations.
The Director oversees asset protection, crisis management, workplace and food safety, cash controls, and incident response. This role partners cross-functionally with Operations, Supply Chain, Legal, HR, and Communications to proactively identify risks, respond to incidents, and sustain business continuity during disruptive events.
The incumbent also leads the implementation and management of integrated resilience and incident management platforms to ensure a coordinated, enterprise-wide response to crises and emerging risks.
Duties And Responsibilities
- Lead the company Asset Protection strategy, defining and executing shrink-reduction initiatives that deliver measurable financial impact. Drive organizational accountability for inventory accuracy, loss prevention, and cash controls. Partner across ADUSA to align on shared priorities, scale best practices, and deliver consistent results.
- Partner with senior Operations leaders and Shrink resources to ensure profitability-driving programs are executed with rigor and consistency. Influence enterprise decision-making, align priorities, and allocate resources to achieve company-wide outcomes beyond functional silos.
- Provide strategic oversight of complex investigations and Organized Retail Crime initiatives, aligning internal teams and external partners to focus on the highest-risk and highest-impact cases. Ensure timely resolution, risk mitigation, and protection of people, assets, and the brand.
- Lead regional response to critical incidents, including severe weather, safety events, and brand-impacting situations. Establish and enforce disciplined response protocols, ensure clear and timely communication, and provide visible, decisive leadership during events.
- Own the development and execution of business continuity and resilience strategies. Oversee the implementation and adoption of integrated incident management and resilience platforms to centralize preparedness, response, and recovery across the organization.
- Maintain strong partnerships with Safety and Operations teams to drive compliance with workplace, food, and environmental safety standards, reducing risk to associates, customers, and the enterprise.
- Collaborate with Operations, Associate Relations, Communications, and Legal to manage sensitive incidents that impact brand reputation, including social media-driven risks and other high-visibility situations.
- Ensure robust physical, personal, and information security programs are in place across all facilities. Proactively identify emerging threats and implement mitigation strategies to safeguard assets, associates, and customer data.
- Build and develop a high-performing Asset Protection organization. Align structure, capabilities, and talent with evolving business needs while fostering a culture of accountability, engagement, operational excellence, and continuous improvement.
Qualifications
- Proven ability to lead and influence cross-functional teams at the executive level, driving alignment and delivering measurable business outcomes
- Demonstrated experience managing risk, asset protection, or multi-unit retail operations in a complex, fast-paced environment
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret data, identify trends, and drive actions.
- Excellent communication and influencing skills across all levels of the organization
- Ability to maintain on-call availability to respond to critical incidents, emergencies, and business disruptions, including after-hours and weekends, as required
Preferred Qualifications
- Wicklander-Zulawski (WZ) Interview Certification or equivalent
