Core Responsibilities

1. Material Selection & Prep

• Sign off on plan review
• Read cut sheets or plans provided by the Shop Supervisor/project manager.
• Select appropriate plywood, hardwoods, or MDF from inventory.
• Use scrap lumber when possible
• Use Delta UNISaw, Radial Arm Saw, and Planer to mill and cut to size.
• Label and organize parts for each cabinet unit or zone.

2. Cabinet Box Construction

• Cut sides, tops, bottoms, backs, and panels for each cabinet box.
• Machine joinery using:
  • Castle Pocket Hole Machine for frames or fast box assembly.
  • Maggi Boring Machine for dowel or adjustable shelf holes.
• Assemble boxes with glue, screws — clamp as needed.
• Install support components (toe kicks, backs, nailing strips) if required.

3. Face Frame Construction (if face-framed)

• Use Miter Saw/Radial Arm Saw to UNISaw to cut face frame components to size.
• Join parts using pocket screws, dowels, or domino-style joinery.
• Glue, square, and clamp frames before attaching to cabinet boxes.

4. Drawer Box Fabrication (Carpenter Tech can be tasked with this)

• Cut drawer parts using UNISaw and Miter Saw/ Radial Arm Saw.
• Use Dovetail Jig to cut joints or alternative box joinery methods.
• Assemble drawer boxes, install bottoms, and square.

5. Door Fabrication

• Cut stiles and rails using Miter Saw/ Radial Arm Saw.
• Shape profiles using the Unique Door Machine or shaper.
• Assemble five-piece doors with panels and glue, clamp, square.

6. Hand-Off to Carpenter Tech for sanding

Inspect work for gaps, blowout, tear-out, or misalignments.

• Label parts and pass them to the sander/prep station for next step.

Skills Required

• Ability to read cabinet drawings or shop cut sheets.
• Competent use of:

UNISaw, Miter Saw, Pocket Hole Machine, Planer, Door Machine, Dovetail Jig

• Knowledge of cabinetry construction methods (frameless, face frame, inset, etc.).
• Ability to stay organized and manage multiple units/batches at once.

Zero rework, clean joints, flush edges

Efficiency

Follow flow to avoid finish delays

Up-fit (After finish is complete)

• Installing hardware (pulls, hinges, drawer slides).
• Touch-up sanding if prep station is overloaded
