Position | Educator Preparation and Licensure Coordinator | Division: | Education, Psychology, and Social Work | Department: | Department of Education | Reports to: | Dean of Education, Psychology, and Social Work | | Position Summary | The Educator Preparation and Licensure Coordinator provides leadership and administrative coordination for the Department of Education and the Educator Preparation Program (EPP) at Livingstone College. The coordinator oversees teacher licensure processes, monitors candidate progression, and supports accreditation and program compliance to ensure that candidates meet institutional, state, and accreditation requirements for program completion and licensure recommendation. In this role, the coordinator supports program governance, assists with curriculum coordination, and facilitates the work of the Teacher Education Council (TEC) to ensure program policies, candidate progression decisions, and assessment practices align with accreditation standards and institutional expectations. Working collaboratively with faculty, academic leadership, and external partners, the coordinator supports program effectiveness through data-informed decision making, regulatory compliance, and continuous improvement in alignment with the mission of Livingstone College. | | Essential Duties & Responsibilities The results you will deliver each day that matter most! | Program Leadership & Governance - Serve as the academic and administrative leader of the Department of Education and the Educator Preparation Program.
- Provide oversight of program operations, faculty collaboration, curriculum coordination, and candidate progression across key program transition points.
- Lead and coordinate the work of the Teacher Education Council (TEC), including scheduling meetings, preparing agendas, maintaining records, and implementing council decisions related to program governance and candidate progression.
- Facilitate collaboration among faculty, clinical partners, and institutional leadership to support program effectiveness and candidate success.
- Oversee curriculum and program review to ensure alignment with state licensure standards, accreditation requirements, and institutional policies.
Licensure & Candidate Progression - Oversee processes related to teacher licensure and institutional recommendation.
- Monitor candidate progress and maintain documentation toward program completion and licensure requirements, including required assessments, GPA benchmarks, and other program milestones.
- Provide guidance and support to candidates in meeting state licensure testing requirements, including Praxis examinations or other state-approved assessments.
- Provide guidance and support to candidates completing state-required performance assessments (e.g., edTPA or other state-approved assessments), including assistance with portfolio preparation, submission requirements, and electronic platform processes such as Pearson.
- Support the organization and maintenance of candidate assessment artifacts and licensure documentation using institutional learning management systems or electronic repositories (e.g., Blackboard).
- Serve as liaison between the Educator Preparation Program and state licensure agencies.
- Provide guidance to candidates and faculty regarding licensure requirements, certification procedures, and program expectations.
Instruction & Program Engagement - May be required to teach undergraduate courses within the Educator Preparation Program as assigned.
- Assist with coordination of field placements and student teaching experiences in collaboration with faculty and partner schools.
- Support recruitment and outreach initiatives for the Educator Preparation Program.
- Serve as a resource for students and faculty regarding program policies and licensure requirements.
Additional Responsibilities - Participate in departmental and institutional committees as appropriate.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
| | Education/ Experience What you will need to be successful! | Required Qualifications - Doctorate (Ed.D. or Ph.D.) in Education, Educational Leadership, Curriculum and Instruction, Teacher Education, or a closely related field from an accredited institution.
- At least three (3) years of experience in teacher education, educator preparation programs, P–12 education, or a related academic setting.
- Knowledge of teacher licensure requirements and educator preparation standards.
- Familiarity with accreditation processes related to educator preparation programs such as CAEP or state program approval.
- Strong organizational, communication, and data management skills.
- Ability to collaborate effectively with faculty, administrators, and external partners.
Preferred Qualifications - Experience teaching at the college or university level.
- Experience coordinating clinical practice or student teaching placements.
- Experience with program assessment and accreditation reporting.
- Familiarity with educator preparation data systems and reporting tools.
