Position | Academic Advisor for Athletics | Division: | Athletics | Department: | Athletics | Reports to: | Vice President of Athletics & Athletic Operations | | Position Summary | The Academic Advisor for Athletics provides comprehensive academic support and guidance to student-athletes to promote academic success, retention, eligibility, and graduation. Monitors academic progress, assists with course selection and degree planning, coordinates tutoring and academic support services, and serves as a liaison between student-athletes, coaches, faculty, and campus departments. Ensures compliance with institutional, conference, and NCAA academic requirements while fostering personal growth, accountability, and achievement among student-athletes. | | Essential Duties & Responsibilities The results you will deliver each day that matter most! | - Advise and support student-athletes in academic planning, degree progression, and course selection.
- Monitor academic eligibility requirements in accordance with NCAA, conference, and institutional regulations.
- Conduct regular academic progress reviews and maintain accurate academic records for student-athletes.
- Develop individualized academic success plans for at-risk student athletes.
- Coordinate tutoring, mentoring, study hall, and academic support services. Serve as a liaison between student-athletes, coaches, faculty, registrar, financial aid, etc.
- Collaborate with the Compliance Office to ensure student-athlete eligibility certifications are accurate and timely.
- Other duties as assigned.
| | Education/ Experience What you will need to be successful! | - Bachelor's degree required; master’s degree preferred
- Bachelor's Degree in one of the following areas: Higher Education Administration, Sports Management, Student Affairs, Educational Leadership & Counseling.
- Academic advising experience in high education & audits
- Academic advising experience in higher education
- Experience working with student athletes
- Knowledge of NCAA, Conference, and institutional academic eligibility requirements.
