Position Summary

The Associate Vice President for Corporate & Foundation Relations provides strategic leadership for Livingstone College’s corporate, foundation, and institutional philanthropy program. The position is responsible for identifying, cultivating, soliciting, and stewarding corporate and foundation partners while developing a comprehensive strategy to secure private philanthropic support aligned with the College’s strategic priorities.

Working collaboratively with the Vice President for Institutional Advancement, Vice President for External Affairs, academic leadership, and campus partners, the Associate Vice President develops competitive funding opportunities, strengthens institutional partnerships, and expands philanthropic investments that advance the mission of Livingstone College.

Annual Fundraising Goal

Develop and manage a portfolio that generates $1.5–$2.0 million annually in corporate and foundation commitments, renewals, sponsorships, and grant awards in support of the Division of Institutional Advancement’s $5 million annual fundraising goal.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

Generate Philanthropic Revenue

  • Build and manage a high-performing portfolio of corporate and foundation prospects that consistently achieve annual fundraising goals.
  • Secure new and renewed philanthropic investments that support institutional priorities.

Build Strategic Partnerships

  • Establish and strengthen relationships with corporate leaders, foundation executives, and philanthropic partners.
  • Position Livingstone College as a preferred investment opportunity through strategic engagement and relationship management.

Expand Funding Opportunities

  • Identify new corporate and foundation prospects.
  • Develop competitive funding strategies and proposals in collaboration with campus partners.
  • Increase the number and quality of funding opportunities each year.

Advance Institutional Priorities

  • Align corporate and foundation investments with the College’s strategic initiatives, academic programs, student success priorities, and capital needs.
  • Collaborate across divisions to maximize institutional funding opportunities while ensuring a coordinated approach to external partners.

Strengthen Stewardship and Accountability

  • Ensure timely stewardship, reporting, and compliance for all corporate and foundation investments.
  • Maintain accurate fundraising data, forecasting, and performance reporting.
  • Provide leadership with meaningful fundraising metrics and recommendations.

Contribute to Division Leadership

  • Serve as a strategic member of the Institutional Advancement leadership team.
  • Promote collaboration, innovation, accountability, and continuous improvement throughout the Division.

Education/ Experience

What you will need to be successful!

  • Bachelor’s degree required; master’s degree preferred.
  • Seven or more years of progressively responsible experience in institutional advancement, corporate relations, foundation relations, development, or nonprofit fundraising.
  • Demonstrated success securing significant philanthropic support from corporations, private foundations, or institutional funders.
  • Proven ability to cultivate, solicit, and steward high-level donor and institutional relationships.
  • Experience developing successful grant proposals, sponsorship opportunities, and funding strategies.
  • Strong written, verbal, interpersonal, and presentation skills.
  • Ability to build collaborative relationships across academic and administrative units.
  • Experience utilizing fundraising databases and CRM systems such as Raiser’s Edge, Ellucian , or similar platforms.
  • Strong organizational, analytical, and project management skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines.
  • Commitment to the mission of Livingstone College and the ability to represent the institution with professionalism and integrity.
