Sr Accountant
Mueller Water Products is the nation's leading manufacturer of flow control devices for the water and gas distribution industries. The Mueller Systems Cleveland, NC facility is seeking a qualified Senior Accountant to provide comprehensive support for the plant's accounting and finance function, which includes report preparation and financial and data analysis.

Job Description:
The Senior Accountant will provide analytical and strategic support to the Plant Controller and other Operations Management of the Cleveland, NC plant. The primary duties of this position include performance of monthly financial close tasks, financial forecasting and analysis, managing the company’s specific financial KPIs, providing analytical support to the Plant Controller to identify areas of opportunity to reduce costs and improve efficiencies. The Senior Accountant will also assist in enforcing a strong internal control environment.
Primary Responsibilities:
· Provide analytical support to Plant Controller, including managing KPI's, performing cost analysis, etc.
· Update and publish daily KPI reports.
· Perform monthly financial close tasks (journal entries, account reconciliations, financial statement analysis, management reporting)
· Assist with preparation of monthly forecasts and Annual Operating Plan
· Track progress in the Operational Excellence incentive program and maintain payout accruals.
· Prepare forecasts and actuals reporting for cost savings projects
· Partner with Supply Chain team on inventory analysis and initiatives and coordination of physical inventory.
· Assist in enforcing all internal controls as well as assisting with all external and internal audits.
· Assist Operational Excellence initiatives by providing analytical support when applicable
· Participate in or lead process improvement projects
Required Skills:
· Proficient in GAAP accounting principles.
· Month-end close experience, including preparation of journal entries, account reconciliations and financial statement preparation.
· Forecasting, budgeting, and cost accounting experience.
· Skilled in analyzing extensive financial data sets.
· Strong PC/Systems knowledge and skills and proficiency in automated accounting systems.
· Self-starter mentality with the ability to independently perform, manage and/or direct multiple tasks and determine priorities.
· Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with ability to interact with all levels of employees, customers and external business partners.
· Experience in dealing with complex accounting matters, product development, technical specifications, and project management and maintaining quality standards.
· Dedication to meeting the expectations and requirements of internal and external customers; acts with customers in mind; establishes and maintains effective working relationships.
· Ability to build relationships to earn and maintain teammates’ trust and respect.
· Continuous improvement mindset, always looking for better ways to satisfy external and internal customers, through incremental and sustainable improvements in quality, durability, service, and cost.

Required Education/Experience:
· 5 – 7 years of experience in all aspects of manufacturing accounting.
· Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance
· Intermediate to advanced Excel skills
Preferred:
· JDE E1 or similar ERP experience
· Master’s Degree or CPA
· Lean/Six Sigma Experience
Physical Requirements:
· Ability to remain in stationary position or standing position for prolonged periods and alternate between
· Ability to repeat gross or fine manipulation that may include the use of wrists, hands, and/or fingers.
· Ability to wear Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), including, but not limited to, safety glasses, steel-toed or metatarsal-guarded shoes, and/or ear plugs, while working in an industrial and/or manufacturing environment.
· Ability to constantly communicate with others to exchange information in person, via phone, or via computer.
· Ability to occasionally lift, carry, push, pull, or move objects up to 25 pounds in weight in all directions.
· Ability to occasionally reach overhead or at or below shoulder level.
