Help Duties
A. Clinical: The CLC Staff Physician is primarily assigned inpatient attending responsibilities in the CLC. The Staff Physician is responsible for providing admission H&P, assessment, diagnosis & referral for consultation, evaluating CLC referrals and participating with admission decisions, leading and participating in family conferences, and being an active member of the inter-professional team. The Staff Physician serves as a resource to GEC nurse practitioners. The incumbent is an integral part of the CLC inter-professional treatment team, and participates in all activities pertinent to the inpatient unit. The incumbent also participates in and directs activities pertaining to the quality improvement, strategic planning, continuous readiness for the annual unannounced CLC survey and The Joint Commission accreditation process. The incumbent also participates in the training of rotating trainees from multiple disciplines.
B. Administrative: The CLC Staff Physician participates in:
- GEC and SVAHCS Hospital Committees
- GEC Medical Staff Meetings
- GEC Journal Club Meetings
- SVAHCS Medical Staff Meetings
- And other duties as assigned
C. Education: The CLC Staff Physician may hold a faculty appointment at Wake Forest School of Medicine with the department of their training. The incumbent will participate in the educational activities of rotating medical residents and fellows of Geriatrics and Palliative care. In addition, the provider is expected to participate in the educational activities of providers and learners of multiple disciplines.
D. Research: Participation in opportunities as available and as time allows are encouraged.
Responsibilities include providing primary care to the Residents of the CLC working in concert with the inter-professional team delivering Veteran centered care.
Supervisory Controls: The Staff Physician is clinically and administratively responsible to the GEC Associate Chief of Staff (ACOS).
Customer Service: The Incumbent must meet the needs of customers while supporting VHA missions; consistently communicate and treat internal and external customers (Veterans, their families, representatives, visitors, and all VA staff) in a courteous, polite, tactful, and respectful manner. Provide customers with consistent information according to established policies and procedures; and handle conflict and problems in dealing with customers constructively and appropriately. Routinely identifies the customer's situation properly and performs the tasks required to resolve the customer's questions/issues accurately and in a timely manner. Follows-up, as necessary, to ensure a satisfactory resolution. Consistently responds to customer requests for assistance promptly and in a friendly and professional manner. Listens actively to customer feedback, positive and/or negative, and acts to resolve matters/situations within their control. Questions/issues not within the employee's control are referred in a timely manner to appropriate staff able to assist with the customer's situation. Meets customer expectations in most cases as determined through established customer surveys or other appropriate feedback systems. Professional relationships with supervisors, co-workers, and others in the organization are consistently courteous and cooperative in nature and, overall, contribute to the effective operations of the workplace and the development of a collaborative working relationship. In most instances, demonstrates the ability to adjust to change or work pressure in a pleasant and constructive manner; handles differences of opinion in a businesslike fashion; and functions as an effective team member through active participation in working towards team objectives and assisting in the group effort whenever and wherever possible.

Pay: Competitive salary, annual performance bonus, regular salary increases
